The Texas Rangers nearly lost because of four consecutive pitches that almost unraveled a game’s worth of effort. They instead won because of three consecutive pitches that sparked an expedited rally.

Joc Pederson hit a walk-off RBI double to give the Texas Rangers a 4-3 comeback win over the Cleveland Guardians.

RBI double from Jose Ramirez put the Guardians up in the 8th, but Cade Smith blew the save in the 9th in a brutal loss to the Rangers.

Wyatt Langford took the first pitch of the inning 104.1 mph back up the middle and used his blazing speed to turn a single into a hustle double. Then Corey Seager took the first pitch he saw and blasted it 108.5 mph into the outfield to score Langford and tie the game.

Cleveland will turn to left-hander Logan Allen to help the Guardians get back on the winning track when they square off with the Texas Rangers on Saturday in the middle game of a three-game series in Arlington, Texas. Allen (7-9, 3.87 ERA) will get the start while Texas will counter with rookie right-hander Jack Leiter (7-7, 4.06).
