City of Houston has extended overflow shelter hours to protect people from the elements as another round of bad weather rolls through Houston. As cold temperatures and heavy rain hit the area, overflow shelter facilities will remain open overnight to provide shelter to those in need.

Today is a FOX 26 Storm Alert Day in southeast Texas. Heavy rain will begin to move in midday with the heaviest rain expected later this afternoon into the evening. Models are showing 2 to 4 inches of rain possible in total and the highest amounts will likely be close to the coast.

Storm roaring across the state will reach its peak Thursday night with more snow across the Dallas and Fort Worth areas and heavy rain for Houston in Southeast Texas. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for North Texas including Dallas & Arlington until noon on Friday,
