As a rare winter system continues to impact northern Florida and the Panhandle on Wednesday, bringing historic snowfall and frigid temperatures in some areas, power outages are affecting residents.

Almost 34,000 power outages were reported across Florida at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. Here's the latest information:

Duke Energy is reporting 9,000 power outages from Tallahassee to Port St. Joe. Tuesday’s historic winter storm is to blame, as utility crews work to get customers’ lights back on. Ana Gibbs is the spokesperson for Duke Energy. She told WFSU on Wednesday that crew members have traveled across Florida, working to get power restored.

The Gulf Coast has been hit by snow and ice, the heaviness of which can lead to power lines coming down and power outages. WKRG has compiled a list of all of the power outages in Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa Counties.

More than 25,000 people in Glynn County have been affected, according to Georgia Power. Nassau County has about 3,419 customers without power and JEA is reporting more than 4,500 customers affected. Customers affected- 1,293

Additionally, Florida Power & Light websites show outages in the area, there are 1,150 outages in Bay County, 6 in Okaloosa County, and 1 in Walton.

Widespread reports of 5″ to 12″ of snowfall were reported around Pensacola on Tuesday evening, which caused troopers to shut down a nearly 70-mile stretch of Interstate 10. National Weather Service offices along the corridor issued a rare Winter Storm Warning for counties from Pensacola to Jacksonville and warned of snow and ice accumulations that could make travel hazardous.
