Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, praised Anwar as a globally respected statesman whose potential role as a mediator carries considerable weight.

Weeks after a military crisis, India and Pakistan have dispatched top lawmakers to press their cases in the United States, where President Donald Trump has shown eagerness for diplomacy between them.

A senior Pakistani official said India has lowered the threshold for future military action between the two arch-rivals, adding that India’s use of a nuclear-capable missile during the latest conflict has made the situation more precarious.
