India's injured quick Jasprit Bumrah will miss the five-match T20 international series with England, while Mohammad Shami has returned to the squad after more than a year out with an ankle injury, the Indian cricket board (BCCI) announced on Saturday.

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami on Saturday returned to India's squad for the upcoming T20 international series against England after more than a year's break due to injury. Pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah is missing with doubts over his participation in the following three ODI matches with the touring England team due to an injury he suffered in the final Australia Test.

Mohammed Shami has finally made a comeback to the India squad with his selection for the five T20Is against England starting on January 22 in Kolkata. He returns after last playing for India in the ODI World Cup final in November 2023, after which he had ankle surgery and also suffered from knee-related niggles.

The highlight of the squad for the five-match series is the return of pacer Mohammed Shami back to international cricket after 14 months.

Mohammed Shami will return to international cricket, after a prolonged injury hiatus, next week. The pacer was picked in India’s 15-member squad for the five-match T20I series against England, starting January 22. The national selection panel met here in person on Saturday to finalise the squad and take stock of the Indian cricket team.
