The Humane Society for Hamilton County has lost heat in two kennel areas and is in urgent need of foster homes to protect the dogs from the extreme cold.

The Fishers shelter is asking the public to come forward and foster animals while they make repairs during dangerous, brutal cold.

James Cauthen, a 54-year-old fire chief with Coweta County Fire in Georgia, was shot and killed while helping drivers who hit a deer in Alabama. Julie McFadden has cared for over 100 patients in their final days.

The shelter currently houses over 130 dogs, and with limited heated kennels available, it needs people who can foster a dog, even for just a few nights.
