An area of low pressure could develop over Florida, bringing lots of rain during the 4th of July weekend, according to the National Hurricane Center. The area of low pressure could develop from a remnant frontal boundary near or along the southeastern U.

There's now a 40% chance for a tropical or subtropical depression forming near Florida by the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Florida appears to be in for a wet weekend, regardless of whether a formal tropical depression or storm develops. Forecasters have upped the chances that a tropical system could form over North Florida in the next week, from 20% earlier in the week to 40% by Wednesday morning.
