For the second day in a row the Dodgers brought back a high-leverage reliever, on Saturday activating right-hander Kirby Yates off the injured list, after missing 22 games on the injured list with lower back pain.

The Los Angeles Dodgers activated right-hander Kirby Yates from the 15-day injured list in advance of Saturday's game against the San Diego Padres and placed left-handed starter Blake Snell on the paternity list.

The Dodgers and Padres are tied atop the National League West with 33 games remaining on the regular season schedule. San Diego pulled even with a 2-1 win on Friday night at Petco Park. Blake Snell took the tough-luck loss despite allowing only two runs and pitching into the seventh inning for the first time

On a night when their chances to do viable damage were few and far between, the Dodgers had an opportunity they couldn't afford to waste in the top of the eighth inning. Hard-throwing Padres righty Mason Miller was on the mound.
