Such a beautiful town in Bavaria! I enjoyed the bridge and walking in the town. Felt safe walking around. I went right after sunrise and at night. Full review by bucketlistchaserOC

Greetings fellow traveler! I forgot to mention that I had found a website that shows photographs and prices for overnight stays in Bamberg. What is frustrating and indeed, contradictory to TripAdviser conditions is, one can´t send links or websites to fellow travelers in answer to their questions. The contradictory “condition” from TripAviser is, one is allowed to enter a link or website for a hotel, restaurant etc. when writing an evaluation – but not in an answer to a fellow traveler´s question! I´m not impressed with this set up and am considering not sending/writing any further reviews. I would appreciate TripAdviser Team, if you´d explain to me why your condition is contradictory, and I feel, quite unfair, or you´ll not hear from my ever again! Kind regards, David F

It depends on your interests. But mainly it depends on the time you'll have for the visit. If you skip interiors and walk around on foot, I would say 2-3 hours are enough. Better start your wandering from Grüner Markt (Green Market) and go to the Cathedral, the Old Court buildings, then if you have time Neue Residenz with the famous Rose Garden offers splendid views around and the Museum is wonderful but you need extra time! Then the Altes Rathaus (Old City Hall) which is the highlight of your visit, because not only of the superb murals outside the building but because also of its perfect location between 2 bridges on River Linker and close to the picturesque Klein Venedig (Little Venice) houses. Making this round you'll enjoy Bamberg's exceptional architecture. The whole old city is one of the Unesco World Heritage sites. I wish you good weather and good luck!

It depends how much time you want to take over the sight seeing. If you want a leisurely wander around and too sample some of the special beer, from one of the many private breweries I would suggest 1 day.
