First of all - you need to know that this is listed as a "moderate" trail but you will be doing some decent uphill climbs. The trail head sign says 1.8 miles and 2-3 hours. We are experienced hik… Full review by richa293

My husband and I just did this trail earlier today — we are two Floridians used to FLAT ground, and I’m less active than my husband, but I survived! We started at the Kōkeʻe State Park entrance, just… Full review by VanessaM814

A hotel concierge told us to look for MM 14 and then take our SUV down the road to where the trailhead starts. It is a very long walk if you do not. Most people parked up at the top of the street on … Full review by 262StephanieP

Canyon Trail is excellent; lots of great views and you go as long as you like.
Hello! I was reading your post on the Canyon Trail. I will not have 4WD so is it ok to park at Hinahina lookout and walk to the trail via new spur trail? What time do you recommend getting to the look out to park? Thank you

Hello! I am not familiar with the new spur trail so I would recommend you read up on it. From all of our three weeks in Kauai, we found that the earlier we arrived, the better our chances were of finding parking. Even when some travel books recommended arriving by 8:00 am, we were disappointed and learned that earlier was better and to avoid the popular places over the week end whenever possible. Enjoy!

Just past mile marker 14. There is some parking right off the highway on both sides of the road, especially if you have a rental car do not go down the road. It's a dirt road, Halemanu Drive, that starts the hike off. Only four wheel drives/non rentals should go on the rocky, pot hole filed road. The first part (1 mile-ish) of the hike is essentially the road, then you get to the trail.
