We will be traveling through Lake Charles in mid-January in our RV & thinking of spending two or so nights in the area. This will be our first visit to this area. Other than gambling, which we're not really into, is the Lake Charles area an interesting place to visit. Things to see/do? We like to get out & move after driving so like outdoor activities like biking,hiking, etc. but also enjoy a good craft beer or a fun happy hour. Any info or suggestions you might provide would be greatly appreciated.

Sam Houston state park offers great trail walking and really good biking trails. Lake Charles (about 15 min away from the park) has great food, if you go downtown you can find good restaurants and drinks. A couple of places include, Luna's (Sunday jazz brunch is good), Luna live (bands play here every night), McFarlins (a mix between a Scottish and Irish pub, great drinks and desserts). There is also a coffee shop downtown (stellar beans), they usually have bands on Friday nights. Also a local favorite is steamboat bills, offers Cajun and seafood. You can go on Luna's, luna lives and stellar beans Facebook to see what's going on when y'all are coming through. Also walking down town around the civic center is pretty, or walking around neighborhoods around there. I know laburge casino has had a skating rink outdoors in years past, so you might want to check up on that when y'all are there.
