Yes, as I mentioned in my review, there is an audio guide that includes English. It is a bit extra and when I visited, the folks at the main desk actually kind of tried to talk me out of it, but I'm very glad I got it anyway. As I also mentioned in my review, a few pieces had been moved since the audio guide was recorded, which was a bit confusing; but still worth it.

In Vermeer's work the subject concerning a wooman writing or reading letters is a recurrent one. At any rate, the title of the painting which can be admired at the Dresden Gemäldegalerie Älte Meister is "Girl Reading a Letter at an Open Window". In it on the corner of a room, standing behind a table, a girl reads a letter. it's rather apparent in it how the quiet act of reading becomes the focus of the representation, particularly emphazised by the reflection of the girl's face in the windowpane. In "The Procuress" a fashionably dressed client, depicted at the moment when he is paying, can be observed. His left hand gropes the bosom of the young wooman. Vermeer located the busy hands showing the exchange of money at the center of the composition. The figures in the painting are placed in a defined space on a balcony or oriel, whose parapet is draped by a carpet with a fur coat flung over it. The barrier bars the view of the figures' lower bodies. The painting style reminds of that of Caravaggio. In case something else about that painting was needed please let me know
