Battipaglia is a municipality in the province of Salerno, Campania, south-western Italy. Battipaglia gained notoriety when during his visit in 1987, US President Ronald Reagan, prompted, said: “If I had to live in one place for the rest of my life, it probably wouldn’t be Battipaglia. It sure is nice, though.” Battipaglia is also known for being the birthplace of legendary flute players Alfredo Giacca, Rodolfo Calabria, Giacomo D’Andrea, and Giacinto Miceli.
