At the heart of The Auckland Project sits the historic Auckland Castle, once the seat of England’s powerful Prince Bishops, and home to a series of remarkable paintings by Spanish master Francisco de Zurbarán. Visitors to Auckland Castle will walk in the footsteps of former Bishops and witness how these figures changed history. They will encounter some of the most important and decisive moments in the Castle’s history, and uncover the stories and personalities of its key residents.
