On your computer, open a document in Google Docs. To find the count of words, characters, and pages, at the top of the page, click Tools Word count. To close the window, click Done.

With the new tabs option, how can I see the word count ... - Google Help
Tabs is a new and cool thing. It makes long documents easier, such as when I type up stories. However, now whenever I pull up the word count, it's only for the specific tab or subtab. How can I see how many words I have overal besides just adding up five plus tabs worth of words?

how do i see how many word i have typed - Google Help
Hi there, You can see how many words you have typed by going to Tools > Word count. If you just want to see how many words are in a block of text you recently added to your document, drag your cursor through that text and follow the same steps. You'll see both the word count for your selected text as well as the entire document.

can I set a word limit on my doc? - Google Docs Editors Community
You can't set a word limit in Docs at this time, but you can keep track of the word count as you work on your document. To do that, go to Tools > Word count. When the word count panel opens, click the box for "Display word count while typing." Then click the blue OK button to save your changes.
